The Waves Collection

I often use long exposures to blur water of to obtain great depth of field in my images, but when it comes to waves, the opposite works. These images were all taken with very fast shutter speeds to freeze the water droplets in mid air and capture a moment never to be repeated. A lot of patience is needed. I study the movement of the waves when I arrive at a location, then set the camera up on a tripod and wait. Sometimes for a long time. But patience and a keen eye are required to trip the shutter at just the right moment the wave reaches its zenith. I often work on windy, blue skies which render atblack in the final black and white images and makes the spray stand out even more.

Prints are available in sizes from 14 inches to 60 inches, with larger and custom sizes available upon request.
